Rio Grande Detention Center

This new 1,500-bed detention facility was developed and will be managed by The GEO Group, in conjunction with The U.S. Marshals Service. The Design-Build project is a collaborative effort between White Construction Company and Cromwell Architects Engineers. In total, there are nine buildings, all situated on 150-acre site with approximately one mile of roadway and offsite utilities for water, sewer and gas. The male housing buildings are constructed of lightweight tilt-up, combined with a pre-engineered building structure, masonry and standing seam roof. The remaining buildings are constructed of masonry with a membrane roofing system on standard bar joists.
